Job Description

Set up, adjust and operate external roll grinding machines to grind a variety of work contours to required finish and dimensional specifications. Tolerances close and exacting but not difficult to maintain. Mostly repetitive work where set ups are standardized and prescribed as to speed and feeds, sequences and the type of wheel to be used. Some degree of skill required to dress and shape wheels, set taper arrangement, allow for factors affecting dimensions such as wheel wear, temperatures, etc. Use fixed and adjustable precision measuring instruments. Requires a knowledge of grinding fundamentals and practices. Work is subject to process and final inspection.

  • Possess good mechanical aptitude.
  • Minimum two (2) years of previous roll grinding experience.
  • Must know how to read blueprints.

Duties

  • Reports problems to higher levels of authority as required by the quality system.
  • Confer with Engineers, production personnel, or others as needed to satisfactorily resolve quality problems.
  • Inspects and measures part to determine conformance to specifications through use of precision measuring equipment.
  • Performs all inspection functions as required by Work Instructions.
  • Notify supervisor of Non Conformances.
  • Support Internal Audit Teams.
  • All other duties that may be assigned.

Educational Background

  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Vocational School graduate in machine shop practices, or equivalent.
